Zen Haiku (Poem)

In the old temple

Beneath the snow-laden roof,

Buddha knowlege sits.

Question of the Day (Airport Reading)

I am in airports frequently and one thing that I notice is that many folks  seem to be reading. I understand that they have little else to do in such a captive atmosphere and Lord knows it does my heart good to see them broadening their horizons. My question is : What was the last book that you read (in part) in an airport or on an airplane in transit ?

3 Things That Will Not Happen

(1)  South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford will not get the "soul mate" of the year award.

(2)  The vultures in the media will not let Michael Jackson rest in peace.

(3)  President Obama will not win the part of Dumbo in the new remake of the Disney classic film.

(Feel free to add your own opinions.)

Beer Trivia

A labeorphile is a person who loves or collects beer bottle labels or beer bottles. Will wonders never cease ?

3 People Whom I Am Tired of Hearing About

(1)  Mark Sanford - Well so much for listening to him about "family values".

(2)  Michael Jackson (The King of Pop) - He is dead. Let him rest in peace without vulture media types nosing around.

(3)  Paris Hilton - She gives new meanings to the word "Dah".

Memories Came Rushing Back (Poem)

Today

I saw a car on fire

As I exited the grocery store.

A power pole was snapped in half

With flames, like a vision of hell,

Soaring above the doomed vehicle -

Thick, black choking smoke

Poured towards the blue sky.

Then I heard the sirens

And the Brothers appeared

Scurrying to put out the fire.

For few moments I was a young fireman again

As the memories came rushing back.

Then I got into the car and left.

Camus Had It Right (Poem)

I think that Camus had it right

When he said

That life is absurd.

It doesn't take a pied noir

To know that life hits like a sledgehammer

And then smiles as if to mock your pain.

It devours one's essence.

Some say that rhyme and reason

Govern our existence - that it will work out in the end,

But my doubt remains

And like Camus I have to face the future

Where even more questions beget themselves.

Once a rebel of a kind

I took the philosophical fall that humbled my being.

Life is absurd -

Camus had it right.
