Anthony Bourdain

I confess here and now that I am a big fan of Anthony Bourdain : No Reservations which you can see on the Travel Channel. The program mixes a world class chef, great food and travel  and I Love it. The man isn't pompous and I feel like we could sit down and chew the proverbial fat with no problem. What more do I want in a television spectical ? I watched the show today and Bourdain was in Las Vegas, Nevada to review 5 world class chefs who have eateries in sin city. The other day he was visiting the Ibans, former headhunters, in Southeast Asia - talk about covering the entire spectrum! Check out AB when you have some free time.

Friedrich Nietzsche Said It

"  The growth of wisdom may be guaged exactly by the diminution of ill-temper.  "  -  Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) , German Philosopher.  To my mind, these words have true wisdom. I say this as a person who has a hair trigger temper. Thank the Lord it goes away about as fast as it appears.

Brief Encounter - A Great Old Movie

I like old, classic movies. The stars of those days seem bigger in retrospect and the movies themselves larger than life. Such a movie is one that came out here in the U.S.A. in 1946, but which had been released a year earlier in Great Britain. The movie is Brief Encounter  and it starred the great Trevor Howard and Celia Fleming. It is the story of a couple who meet in a railway station in England and the relationship that ensues. It has all the elements of a classic love story. Celia Fleming, for your information, was the sister-in-law of Ian Fleming who created James bond. Rachel over at Tinkerty Tonk has a post of Brief Encounter. Check it out and do see this movie.
