Clue # 1 : He was a pitcher.
Clue # 2 : He was the only major league player ever to wear the name of his home town on his jersey as his number.
Clue # 3 : He was a South Carolinian.


I'm guessing he was from Ninety Six, SC but I don't know who he was.
