George Carlin (1937-2008) has passed away . He was a comedy giant right up there with Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor. His metier was political and black humor. He had a passion for taboo subjects and understood language as well as any comedian who ever lived. One of his noted routines was the "Seven Dirty Words" . This routine actually prompted a United States Supreme Court ruling . My favorite Carlin character was Al Sleet the " hippy dippy weather man " - an example of which is the following joke. Al Sleet says that "the forecast for tonight is dark!" Great stuff !

I was so saddened when I heard this. I loved him and his humor. Great man!
Peace

Like Walt Disney was to fantasy, George Carlin was to comedy. He ventured into risky territory, yet did so with his own style and got away with it. He will be very missed by all who were capable of having a good laugh at themselves quite often. Carlin also had a sensibility about him that was refreshing.
