a broken water main
had the audacity to wake me up
at 1:40 AM.
the earth was shaking
and worker bees were scrambling
outside my window in the darkness.
i thought that the Mexican army
had invaded Fort Jackson
across the road.
those flashing lights
didn't help matters -
the cats were pissed
and blamed me, i think,
for the trouble.
hey, i was in my bed
and then trouble arrived in the form
of a broken water main.

Wondered why you were online at such an ungodly hour!

I like poems like this that detail slice of life events. Well done! My blog is also a shadow blog with poetry ... different shadow though.
