Americans are generally eclectic when it comes to our tatses in music. I am as well. My taste runs to Blues,Old Country,Classic Rock, Jazz and Classical, but I listen to what caresses my ear. I have been a huge Don Ho fan since he had his television program that ran for two years back in pre cable days. Recently I have delved more into Hawaiian music and it is pure gold. The rythyms, the great slack key guitars and steel guitars plus some fantastic voices make it a feast for the ears. The Hawaiians love life and that is relected in their vibrant music. The best Hawaiian song I have heard to date is "I'm Living On A Easy" by the legendary Gabby "Pops" Pahinui. The song knocks me out with its joy and vitality. If you want to feel good in these hard times check out Gabby Pahinui and Hawaiian music in general !

George Winston has often taken a digression from the piano inot slack key guitar, might be worth checking out.

Funny I remember being a Don Ho fan way back in 1967, I was so smitten with the Hawaiian that I used to triptoe thru the proverbial tulips to his Tiny Bubbles album.
Gosh what a surge of memories this entry brought back...thank you
