Hawaiian Music

Americans are generally eclectic when it comes to our tatses in music. I am as well. My taste runs to Blues,Old Country,Classic Rock, Jazz and Classical, but I listen to what caresses my ear. I have been a huge Don Ho fan since he had his television program that ran for two years back in pre cable days. Recently I have delved more into Hawaiian music and it is pure gold. The rythyms, the great slack key guitars and steel guitars plus some fantastic voices make it a feast for the ears. The Hawaiians love life and that is relected in their vibrant music. The best Hawaiian song I have heard to date is "I'm Living On A Easy" by the legendary Gabby "Pops" Pahinui. The song knocks me out with its joy and vitality. swine flu

down south of the border,

State of Emergency : Mexico

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has declared a state of emergency in Mexico due to an outbreak of swine flu. American President Barack Obama was in Mexico when the outbreak began and on April 16th shook hands with noted Mexican archeologist Felipe Solis. Solis died of flu like symptons the following day. The first case of swine flu, in Mexico, was noted on April 13th.  Note : The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia notes, in a health advisory, that requent washing of one's hands lessens the risk of respiatory infection.
