I love Rock'n'Roll music. I also Love Blues,Old Country, Classical,Cajun and Zydeco and Jazz too. My take in music is eclectic as you can see. Three of my Rock oldie favorites are listed below. I could list many more, but I have listened to these songs today.
(1) Rock the Casbah (The Clash) - These British guys kicked ass ! No political correctness here ! They called themselves the only group that mattered and fought themselves and other bands.
(2) Roll Over Beethoven (The Beatles) - Written by the great Chuck Berry. I always liked The Beatles version of it. It stills rocks and brings back a lot of good memories.
(3) Ramblin' Man (Allman Brothers Band) - This song is by a seminal Soutern Rock band who were heavily Blues influenced. These boys make me proud to be a Southerner !
According to William Beach and Patrick Tyrrell, scholars at The Heritage Foundation," Today...67.3 million Americans - from college students to retirees to welfare beneficiaries - depend on the federal government for housing, food, income, student aid or other assistance...The United States reached another milestone in 2010. For the first time in history, half the population pays no federal income taxes. "
" Half of all children born to women under 30 in America now are illegitimate. "
" The welfare sytem is more like a ' safety bog ' than a safety net. " - Robert Rector in " Understanding Poverty in the United States : Surprising Facts About America's Poor. "
A lot of Americans do not have much trust in the News Media. It depends on where you go to get your news : CNN, HLN, MSNBC, NPR, Fox News and the major newspapers and magazines. Just for a moment say that we could wave a magic wand and 50 competent, small town newspaper editors were put in positions of power at the afore-mentioned media outlets. How would the news change ? Would we get more hard news and less personality and ratings- driven opinion? Would the Bill O'Reillys, Chris Matthews, Soledad O'Briens, Joe Scarboroughs, Ed Schultzs. Rachel Maddows, Rush Limbaughs pale in comparison to real journalists ? Well, they certainly wouldn't be any worse ! If only it could be done.
There has been another school shooting - this one is in Ohio. Four students were shot and the shooter has been taken into custody. Any violence is bad, but this type is really scary and very sad. I wonder what causes someone to do something like this in a school of all places. I pray that the wounded will recover. As for the perpetrator what can I say ? I hope that justice is swift in this instance.
Dear President Obama : I see that you apologized tp President Karzai of Afghanistan over the Koran burnings. I don't know all of the extenuating circumstanes about the incident, but you did apologize. If it was wanton and deliberate that needs to be adressed by the U.S. Army. However, it would be the last thing that I would do if I were in that country considering it would be usefull fodder for the Taliban.
That being said sir, I ask you to demand an apology from Mr. Karzai. After all those two officers were shot in the back of the head by an Afghan whom they were working with and possibly trained. Are not our people's lives precious too ? Are Muslims above reproach in such matters. Can there be no criticism of them - especially in a case of cold blooded murder ? And while I am at it, I have not heard a word of apology from our Muslim friends on the bombing of a Churxh of Christ by Boko Haram in Nigeria and the burning of Copt churches in Egypt. I could go on but does it even matter to you ?
Corporations today have become super entities. They have money, power and unlimited access to our elected officials in Washington, D.C.. They seek to influence legislation or block it if it suits their purpose. The bottom line for them is to make money ! I am all for capitalism, but I am not for capitalism run amuck that impacts ordinary folks life negatively and a lot of what is going on in D.C. is hurting our people today. An honest profit is fine but not corporate greed and we are seeing a lot of that now. And it really rankles the average American who is desperately trying (in many cases) to meet his, or her, mortgage payment, feed the familly and keep the car full of gas.
The political culture in Washington has to be changrd or the same collusion will proceed unabate. The question is where do we begin and how do we do it ? It is time for the average American to get pissed and start comminicating our displeasure with our elected officials !
